We're a family-run school with one simple belief: we develop skills that build confidence and breed safety.
Built on a Highway Patrol foundation
In 1963, W.R. Davis started a school for driver education. Years spent in a driver licensing supervisory role with the North Carolina Highway Patrol had given him a special interest in teaching people to drive well — not just well enough to pass.
That knowledge carries through today. Our school's background traces back to one of the original foundation members of the North Carolina Professional Drivers Association.
Every phase of driver education
Drivers and non-drivers, teens and adults, nervous first-timers and seniors checking their skills — we work with everyone in between. Learning to drive opens up new paths in life, and we take that responsibility seriously.
We are also certified by the NC DMV to administer private road tests for teens and adults. Learn about our private road test
One of our greatest satisfactions is teaching multiple students from the same families over the years. That trust is earned one lesson at a time.
Our road so far
- 1963
W.R. Davis, a driver licensing supervisor with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, founds the school to teach safer driving.
- 1989
His son-in-law completes NC instructor school and begins teaching alongside him.
- 1990
The business passes to the next generation when W.R. retires — though he stays active until 1994.
- Today
Over 60 years of continuous operation, 2.5 million miles of in-car training and thousands of students — often several from the same family.
