About

In 1963, W.R. Davis, my father-in-law, started the school for driver education. He had been with the North Carolina Highway Patrol in a drivers licensing supervisory role for years and had special interest in educating people about driving. I began working with him in the summer of 1989, after attending the NC instructor school. I bought the business when W. R. retired in 1990. Of course, he remained active in the business until his death in 1994. We have been teaching people how to drive in the Winston-Salem, North Carolina area for over 50 years and and you can trust that we know what we are doing when it comes to teaching you how to drive.

We are involved in all phases of driver education, drivers and non-drivers, adults and teens, and everyone on between. Everyone can appreciate the fact that learning to drive opens up many different paths in their lives and can give them a freedom like nothing else. Here at the Carolina Driving School, we believe that everyone could benefit from our classes and teachings to become a better driver.

Our superior services are based on a background of knowlege from one of the original foundation members of the “North Carolina Professional Drivers Association”. My particular qualifications are 23 years of instruction, 2 1/2 million miles of actual in car training and thousands of students. It gives me a feeling of satisfaction, that frequently, I have multiple students from the same families over a span of years. Ultimately, I believe, at Carolina Driving School, we “develop skills that build confidence and breed safety”.
